About Suzuki

Suzuki is today one of the largest car- and engine manufacturers, but it's history begins already in 1909 when Michio Suzuki started making weaving looms for the silk industry in the Japanese town of Hamamatsu. Already in the 30's Suzuki was working on developing small cars, but due to WWII these plans were abandoned. In 1952, motorcycle production was started and the plans for making cars were taken up again. The first car, Suzulight, was presented in 1955. A small car, but very modern for its time with front wheel drive, fully independent suspension and rack-and-pinion steering. en liten men modernt konstruerad bil med framhjulsdrift, delad fram och bakaxel samt kuggstångsstyrning. Since then, Suzuki has made a name for themselves for making good, small passenger cars such as the Swift, but even more for its jeeps. Suzuki Jimny were in some markets named Samurai, and its second generation was a massive success in the 80's.
