About Amilcar

The french car maker Amilcar was active from 1921 and until the beginning of the second world war, founded by Joseph Lamy och Emile Akar. The first model was a modest cyclecar, but the company would soon be making more car-like and elegant models. The Compound, presented in 1938 was technically advanced for its time with independent suspension, front wheel drive and monocoque frame. The famous dancer Isadora Duncan, known as the mother of modern dance lost her life in an accident involving an Amilcar in 1927.
